The Doctors at the Eye Institute
of Southern Arizona
James
Goldman, M.D.
An Ophthalmologist Specializing in Cataract Surgery
Corneal Transplantation and Laser Vision Correction
Dr. Goldman's interest in medicine
began when he accompanied his father on internal medicine rounds
at age 13. His formal medical training began when he was accepted
early on to the University of Rochester's School of Medicine at
age 18. As an undergraduate, he majored in Neuroscience, graduated
cum laude, and received numerous academic awards. However, during
his earlier years while in Rochester, he was better known as James
the Juggler. By the time he graduated from the University, he
had been recognized in the New York Times and by the State Medical
Society for his outstanding contributions in community service;
having performed over 200 juggling shows at nursing homes and proprietary
homes across the city.
Upon completion of Dr. Goldman's medical
internship with the Unity Health System in Rochester, New York,
he received the 'Outstanding Intern of the Year Award'. He was
then granted admission to the prestigious Northwestern University's
Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, where he trained
as an ophthalmologist and served as chief resident. |

Dr. Goldman was fortunate to be accepted
to the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, ranked first in the nation
for ophthalmic care and training. At Bascom Palmer, he completed an
anterior segment fellowship specializing in microsurgery of the lens,
cornea, and laser vision correction. He has presented his research at
multiple national meetings and his efforts have been published in several
scholarly journals.
While far from home, Dr. Goldman chose the
city of Tucson and the Eye Institute of Southern Arizona to share his
skills and to serve the local community. He looks forward to the opportunity
to meet you. When not hard at work, he enjoys spending time outdoors
playing tennis, rock climbing/hiking and of course, juggling.
